The Woobles Review: First Impressions Review as a Crochet Beginner

The algorithm got me. I’ve had a long time interest in fiber arts. I’ve dabbled in hook rugs and punch needle, and I’ve tried knitting before (too many things to keep track of!). Punch needle has probably been my most successful foray into yarn.

I had only passing familiarity with amigurumi, Japanese art of crocheting or knitting little creatures and objects. Like all other crochet art, it seemed like a complicated craft. But the social media ads from The Woobles sucked me in! I realized that not only would I end up with a cute stuffy. I’d have real skills that could translate into other crochet projects like blankets and sweaters. I was sold. This is my First Impressions Review as a crochet beginner.

What I’m loving about Woobles

I picked the Limited Edition Retro Rainbow Revelers bundle with the sweetest dino, narwhal, and unicorn. There are so many options and variations for everyone like this cute pig and his flying friends or this fearsome Voldemort and Nagini. Each comes with enough frayles yarn for the project, a hook, markers, stuffing, a yarn needle, and a QR code for instructions.

The instructional videos are easy to detailed and easy to follow. Each step has it’s own segment so it’s easy to skip to whichever step you’re own or rewatch a step. I’ve watched them on my laptop and my cell phone. I didn’t need a special app or download.

Woobles Kit Cost

It’s a great entry level for a beginner who is unsure about their commitment to a new hobby. I have been known to enthusiastically dive into a new hobby only to get distracted after awhile. Gathering tools can be time consuming and expensive, especially when one ends up with excess craft supplies they have no plans for. This amigurumi kit provides only the necessary tools and it eliminates the difficult chore of tracking down and selecting the appropriate supplies. In fact, if you don’t need the 4.5 mm crochet hook, you can place an order without it. This also makes it a great gift to a crafter friend who’ll enjoy a quick project. Starting at $25 dollars, it’s an moderately priced kit and if you know you want to try several, there are also several themed bundles available at a small discount. While an accomplished crocheter might not need little things like markers or a needle, this kit is accessible so a novice maker gets only what they need to complete the craft without having to invest in pricey tools and materials like new crochet hooks or skeins of yarn. So while $25 may be a lot for someone who just wants a cute pattern for a new toy, it’s a bargain for another person unsure how committed they will be to a new crochet hobby.

My progress so far as a crochet beginner

It’s coming along nicely!

The verdict on Woobles

Buy a kit from The Woobles and try for yourself. An experienced crocheter may find the supplies redundant or have a preferred yarn, but if you are new to crochet or just want a fun contained project then this is a great option.
